Dear Supervisors and Planning Staff,
The Friends of Butte Creek and the members of the Butte Creek Canyon Overlay Committee want to
thank you for your past support in protecting the jewel of Butte County, Butte Creek Canyon. The
fragile nature of our watersheds must be protected to ensure a future for Spring Run Chinook salmon
and the incredible diversity of life that depends on their existence. The nutrient remains of the salmon
are translocated far from the creek and provide a steady supply of ocean based fertilizer to maintain
the animals and plants.
It has been many years, meetings, workshops and hearings since we began this journey with you.
We hope you feel, as we do, that it has been worth it. Most often we only have one chance to protect
things of beauty and ecological importance. Let's not pass up this chance!
