Dear Butte County Supervisors:
As a resident of Chico I am deeply concerned about the increase in homeless. We live west of
Chico on Big Chico Creek and have seen huge increases in the numbers of people sleeping
overnight and also "permanent" encampments. Walking along Bidwell Ave between Oak Lawn
and Nord Ave early in the morning one can see many people staying overnight numerous
locations. There are huge saniltation issues (our creeks can't handle this human waste and it
becomes a health hazard for children playing in the creek), fire issues (they come with grills and
propane tanks), and garbage is ever increasing and our riparian areas are deteriorating.
Please announce an emergency "declaration of shelter crisis" so some of these people can be
given decent options.
