Subject: Rumor Regarding Silver Dollar Shelter
Greetings:
A rumor is circulating on the Butte County Fires, Accidents and Crimes Facebook group that there was a possible drug
overdose at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds about an hour ago. We worked with the Red Cross and CHP to confirm that this
was not true. CHP did respond to an alleged drug issue, but no one had overdosed and no one was found using drugs.
We have asked the Group Administrator to remove the comment.Additionally, Red Cross is working to provide accurate
information and restate policies regarding the use of drugs and/or alcohol at shelters in response to comments within
the Facebook group post.
