HomeMy WebLinkAboutEmail from Eric Ginney - Butte Creek Canyon Overlay Zone Menchaca, Clarissa From: Eric Ginney <EGinney@esassoc.com> Sent: Monday, April 23, 2018 4:53 PM To: Kirk, Maureen Cc: Clerk of the Board Subject: SUPPORT for the Butte Creek Canyon Overlay Honorable Maureen Kirk– Good afternoon. I am a Butte County citizen living in your district. As a professional focused on water and natural resources management, a former resident of Butte Creek Canyon, and a contractor to state and local government agencies, I am writing to notify you of my support for the Butte Creek Canyon Overlay. In short, it just makes good sense for the County, its citizens, and it also makes sense for the Canyon ecosystem, upon which the natural capital of the County is founded and maintained. With my work and volunteerism over the decades, I've supported the County in addressing erosion and water quality issues in the Canyon and have supported the understanding and sound management of the creek's ecosystem, including the listed salmonids that call it home. Based on my work locally and across the Western United States, I am afforded the benefit of having knowledge of how other communities have valued—or not valued—their natural resources and moved to protect them in appropriate ways. You have a chance to do the right thing here and now with the Overlay. I am counting on your support of the Overlay this week. Please let me know if you have any questions or wish to learn more about some of the issues---past and present---that exemplify why the Overlay is of critical importance. Regards- Eric Eric M.
