As retired educators and county residents since graduating from CSUC, we found the 2017 Airbnb income nearly paid for our home's Butte County taxes. Most importantly, we live in that same rural residence and need the extra income to stay. (We all know the costs of living continue to increase faster than limited retirement incomes).
