Subject: Stanley Avenue Development
As a long time resident on Stanley Avenue in Chico, I would like to share my concerns regarding
the proposed subdivision map TSM 17-001 being proposed for Stanley Avenue.
I am concerned that the proposed 21 additional houses for the development are going to
negatively impact the safety and character of the Stanley Avenue neighborhood.
The additional traffic flow will not only be a safety factor, but will have negative impacts on our
use of the streets in our neighborhood. There are a number of seniors in the neighborhood who
use the street on a regular basis for walking and exercise. The additional traffic flow during the
construction of large commercial trucks and equipment will be a safety hazard for all of us who
use the road for accessing our property and who use the road for walking and riding bicycles.
I personally, am handicapped and use a walker on the street for my regular exercise. This
additional traffic and potential safety factor will be a detriment to my personal quality of life as
well as others in the neighborhood who use the street daily.
Therefore, although I am personally opposed to the proposed development with the high density
plan, I would ask that the developer be responsible for widening the street and installing curbs,
gutters and sidewalks from Dayton Road to the entrance of the proposed development.
The widening of the street would not only provide safety to those who presently live on the street
and use the street from the Dayton Road entry, but would also provide the property owners in the
new development with a safer and more user friendly access to the development. Furthermore,
sidewalks would provide all children in the present and new neighborhood a margin of safety for
their outside activities.
If in fact, the developer is concerned about the quality of life his development would have on the
Stanley Avenue neighborhood, this would a small token of his concern for a quality,
neighborhood family development.
Sincerely,
i
