Mr. Yamaguchi:
You may not remember that for a relatively long period of time our Paradise Library wa only
open 4 days a week. During that same period we were paying an extra 1 cent ssales tax to help San Francisco
recover from there earthquake damage (EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD A BRAND NEW LIBRARY AND
WERE THROWING OUT THERE OLD BOOKS). Our point is our butte cvounty library for years was
underfunded. Your 500,000 didn't catch the liberary up after years of abuse. Of course a lot of this happened
before you arrived up here. I would rather see a cut in pay for police and firemen. They seem to think they
are sacrosanct from paycuts and furloughs. John Barto

Hello,
The Butte County Library budget was increased by$500,000 two years ago. So the library does not always
take the hit.At the time no other Butte County Department received such an increase.

Mr. Yamaguchi
I support the friends of the library in Paradise . You know the library has been taken the brunt of all cuts over
the years. Each time the county wants to cut something the library is the first to be considered. We have had
enough. Please cut elsewhere. The high wages of the police and fire is where the first cuts should be. It is
about time that those making over 50K should cut. My husband and 1 have lived on rninumum wage for
years and the library is our entertainment. I think that is the way of a lot of people here in town. Just because
we are a small town does not mean we do not care about our library. Thank you John and Linda Barto
