HomeMy WebLinkAboutEmail from Kathleen Sweeney regarding Jefferson State Declaration and how a constituent can place an item on the agenda Sweeney, Kathleen From: Sweeney, Kathleen Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2013 2:55 PM To: BOS Cc: Hahn, Paul Subject: Declaration request Board members— I have been informed by the District 3 office that a gentleman contacted Supervisor Kirk "for a meeting to discuss the Jefferson State Declaration that will be on the October 22 agenda." To date, our office has not received a formal request to include this item on a future Board agenda, therefore it is not scheduled for the October 22 agenda. For your information - Whenever I receive an inquiry from a member of the public on how he/she can have a formal item placed on the Board's agenda, I inform the individual of a few different options: 1) Submit a written request to the CAO/COB that indicates the subject matter and the action that will be requested of the Board. The CAO then reviews the request to determine if the matter is appropriate to include on an agenda; 2) Address the Board during the Public Comment section of a Board meeting to request the Board direct staff to include the item on a future agenda; or 3) Contact a Board member directly and request that he or she direct the CAO/COB to include on an agenda.
