Subject: Manzanita School & Rehab Center
Dear Supervisors,
Today I read the Gridley Herald article about a drug and alcohol rehabilitation residence next to an elementary
school.
I am gravely concerned about the safety of the children at Manzanita Elementary. Everyone deserves a chance
to live a healthy, safe life. There was no appropriate announcement of this purchase allowing the school district
to prepare for potential traffic, hazards, or the immediate safety of the children.
At this point, the very least the Board can do is provide reassurance and safety for the children at Manzanita
School.
Are you as our representatives ready to provide that? A -fence? A wall? Is that really what it will take?
I am very disappointed in Steve Lambert's willingness to forego safety for the sake of real estate and hope there
can be some willingness from the Board to create some responsibility - from the Rehab business and County to
reassure the families they will be protected.
