Subject: School Safety Concern
Hello
Please Share my latter with all the Board members. I am a resident of the Thermailto/Oroville area and I am greatly dismayed to see a
house selling AMMO right across from the Nelson Ave and Hearthstone Charter Schools.
With all the concern about gun violence in schools and the ordinances to protect children in schools, how can this be allowed.
This sign went up recently right around the time kids went back to school.
Seriously I have made many calls and everyone from the Sheriffs office to Oroville Police station to Oroville City Administration,Code
Ordinance office does not seem to be concerned.
As a parent and community member I am concerned, you can see the Children/School Crossing signs across the street from the AMMO sign.
I am writing you as a board to look into the legal aspects of this and to create an ordinance to protect school areas from close proximity
AMMO sales.
If you use common sense the people that may stop buy to purchase this Ammo may have firearms in their cars and possession.
I went to pay my water bill at the Thermailtio Water and Sewer office and their parking lot has ordinance signs posted restricting
skateboarding and firearms. So our community can protect a parking lot but not the area around schools with children walking to school.
I insist on a response
Thank you,
Kathy Brazil
