Subject: Stanley Ave proposed development
Butte County Supervisors:
Just say NO to developers AND YES TO FARMERS!!! This proposed project is on prime agricultural land. The current
well on that property can water the full acreage. Ideally that land would stay in production and not become a windfall for a
developer.
Short of that, please maintain the 300' agriculture setback for this proposed development. Do not start to compromise the
agriculture of our county. The 300' setback does not even take into consideration all of the other active farming taking
place on Stanley Ave. that borders the project. I have been a 4-H Community Club Leader, am currently a 4-H Nigerian
Dwarf Goat Leader and my children have raised multiple project animals on this property. The proposed development will
wrap behind my house. My property maintains that setback from the large walnut production on the other side of
Comanche Creek with my home built near the front of the street. Any new housing should comply with the same "rules",
especially given the drift of herbicides and pesticides from that production.
This project would also bring on an incredible increase of traffic on our small street and no one wants their front yards
gobbled up to widen the street to Dayton Road. We already have a problem with speeders on this road and the increase
on traffic would increase the likelihood of injuries to pedestrians and pets.
There are many more negatives that can be covered but I see no positives. We live in the county, vs. the City of Chico, to
avoid housing developments. Please do not change our way of life.
