Kathleen,
My name is Lori Jacobs, I am the President for California Houndsmen for Conservation. I just spoke with you
on the phone regarding getting 2205 on your agenda for April 8th.
AB 2205 is authored by Assemblyman Tim Donnelly and sponsored by the California Houndsmen for
Conservation. In 2012 SB 1221(Lieu) was passed which took away the use of hounds on bears and bobcats in
the State of California. What 2205 would do is allow Counties the authority to say whether or not they want
to allow the use of hounds in their county on these species.
With the passage of 1221 in 2013 the take of bears was down approximately 50 %, which is undoubtedly going
to lead to the population exploding more than it already is and this is bound to pose a public safety issue in
the future.
By supporting 2205 and if passed it would put the authority where it should be, in the hands of the local
Government. If Marin of LA counties do not want bear and bobcat hunting in their jurisdiction then they don't
have to have it, this would only give the counties the option. We all know that our rural counties are the ones
that will be mostly effected by not having or having the use of hounds.
Please take into consideration putting this on your agenda and I would gladly come speak, I am asking that you
please support AB2205.
Thank You,
Lori Jacobs
