Subject: Water shortage
Dear Supervisors;
The news is reporting that the water shortage in California is on the verge of being
one of the "worst disasters in American history ". The central valley farmers may
get zero water this year for their crops and already over 400,000 acres of farm land
is not being planted. This is the largest vegetable supplier in the entire country.
Cattle farmers are selling their herds because they won't be able to feed them and
provide water. They are talking about FOOD. No water and a food shortage that is
a huge crisis - and yet nothing is stopping the pot growers! They, at this very
moment are grading, hauling soil and buying many 3,000 gallon water tanks to
grow their 99 plants. We learned last year how many thousands of gallons that
takes, and we don't have it.
I believe it is up to you Supervisors to do something about this. An emergency
situation is facing us and thousands of families in Butte County will have their
wells dried up before summer if this isn't stopped. You have the power to stop all
outdoor growing this year because the Governor declared it an emergency. If the
farmers can't have it, the marijuana growers should be last on the list.
