The Butte County Probation Department is implementing the Fresh Start Youth Farm. The purpose of this program is to
provide "fresh start" opportunities for youth offenders, focusing on developing work readiness, self-efficacy and critical
thinking skills, to increase attachment to their communities, provide youth with an opportunity to pay restitution to
victims, reduce recidivism by improving their connection to their community and increasing vocational and educational
skills.
On May 3, 2014, we will begin construction of the first twenty garden beds adjacent to the Probation Department on
County Center Drive in Oroville.
Attached is an invitation to volunteer to help this meaningful and worthwhile project. If you are unable to volunteer
that day it is hoped you will be able to stop by at 11:30 AM to hear more about the project from the Probation
Department's Administration.
Thank you for your time and support, Michelle
