Yesterday a question was raised about the water in Sycamore Creek at Cohasset Road. I drove by the creek last
evening. There is some standing water but not enough to create a flow. It is about a 10' x 30' pool on the north side of
Cohasset.
I checked with CalWater. They have not done any flushing or have a leak. They observed the standing water and found
it unusual. I asked DWR Northern Region. They observed water from the storm drain last year in August. They have
been working on an evaluation of the flood control system, and are trying to address vegetation management in this
location. The vegetation including cattails seems to grow in the summer. DWR thinks that the source of water is coming
from urban drainage in the summer time (lawn watering?). This is speculation, but is the likely source. If I find
additional information I will let you know.
Thanks
Paul
