Subject: Request for Consideration
Dear Supervisors,
Season's greetings, and given the last two months, best wishes for a brighter 2019.
I am writing today to propose an avenue toward that end for one Camp Fire family and with some benefit to the County
of Butte as well. The following presents the details of the situation.
1
For nearly 25 years, my family has lived at 3153 Chico Avenue (APN 039-150-074-000) across from the Vanella nut
processing plant. The property has not been in agricultural production since before we purchased the home from Peter
Goosev who owned several parcels in a row. None of the five parcels, which Goosev subsequently sold, have been in ag
production at any time since we arrived nearly 25 years ago. My husband and I will not have the time to develop our
parcel for agricultural production in the future, and five acres is below the threshold that would make doing so
profitable for us even if we did have time.
In view of these circumstances, I would like to request an exception to the five-acre minimum parcel size at this address
so that we can split our parcel in half and offer it for sale to a Camp Fire victim. I request this as an exception only
because of the current unique circumstances. The proposed exception would benefit Camp Fire victims and the County
of Butte by helping to alleviate the housing crisis, and it would not take any more land out of agricultural production.
I respectfully request that you consider allowing this particular parcel to be split and offered for sale.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Best Regards,
Rosemary White
