Subject: INVITATION: Cultural Responsiveness Training on 1/25 in Chico
Attachments: Chico MYLAR Flyer.pdf
Dear Assistant Clerk of the Board Ashley Snyder:
My name is, Sherrie and I am contacting you today to share information about a training happening in Chico
and to request your assistance in outreach for this event. The training program is funded by the California
Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and is hosted by the Multi-Year Language Access Resource (MYLAR)
Collaborative which is comprised of six organizations, statewide, who are committed to increasing access to
victim services for all Californians.
The free training seeks to strengthen victim services through increased cultural responsiveness, particularly in
the Latino and Asian and Pacific Islander communities, The training is designed for organizations, and
governmental agencies that serve victims of crime. In Butte County, 15.2% of the population is Latino and
4.3% of the population is Asian. With such a constituency, we hope that organizations and agencies within your
jurisdiction will be able to benefit from the information provided as part of this training.
The training will take place on Thursday, January 251" from 9AM-4:30PM at Oxford Suites Chico, located
at 2035 Business Ln, Chico, CA 95928. There is no cost to attend the training and individuals may RSVP to
attend at the following link: http://tinyuri.coiii/MYI.,AF-liextlevel. A flyer for the event is attached to this email.
We are asking your office to consider sharing this opportunity with your network in order to strengthen
cultural responsiveness in victim services in Butte County and the surrounding areas. Please contact
me should you have any questions.
Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing from you!
