RE: October 23"1 WHITE HOUSE TOUR/BRIEFING
The White House is hosting a California Briefing and Tour for all County Supervisors on Tuesday, October 23rd. By now,
you should have received an invitation directly from the White House. While CSAC is not sponsoring this event,we are
working with NACo to heip provide information and details should you choose to attend. CSAC and NACo MI also be
hosting a dinner and briefing the evening before on Monday, October 22nd to provide additional information, context
and a legislative update.The following is some helpful information that will help you navigate and prepare far this trip.
WHITE HOUSE TOUR/BRIEFING RSVP
Over the past year, the White House has been inviting county officials from each state to tour the White House and
attend a conference with senior administration officials. There have been roughly 35 states that have been invited and
the White House plans to invite all states before the year ends.

Your RSVP is due no later than 1:00 PM ET on Tuesday, October 16th. Please ensure that all information is submitted
accurately.The information you submit must be an exact match with what is listed on your government issued ID,which
you will present to Secret Service before entry onto White House grounds.
NACo DINNER&BRIEFING
NACO will be hosting a briefing and legislative update the night before the tour&briefing for attendees. Please see the
attached invitation and draft agenda for additional details. NACo is located one block from Union Station on the redline.
WHITE HOUSE DAY-OF EVENT LOGISTICS
The White House typically invites attendees on a public tour of the White House.The Visitors Entrance is located at the
intersection of 15th Street& Pennsylvania Avenue, near the Treasury Department. Please note that there are no
available restrooms at the White House. If necessary,there are restrooms located at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion and the
White House Visitor Center(see map attached), which is roughly 15—20 minutes walking distance from the White
House Entrance.We suggest arriving at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time of 10:00 AM ET.The tour
lasts approximately 45 minutes and is a self-guided tour.The exit will be on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of Lafayette
Park.
There are many items that are prohibited in the White House. A list of some of the items is below—please note that this
list is not exhaustive. If you or any of your members run into any issues at the first gate, please reach out to Luana
Mayfield (202-942-4237) or a member of the NACo legislative team so they can come and retrieve your prohibited item.
There are no lockers or storage bins at the White House and you will be turned away for bringing prohibited items.

After the tour,you will have to go through security again to get into the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.This
entrance is at a different location at the intersection of 17th Street and State Place. If White House officials advise you
otherwise, please follow those instructions.We suggest allowing 30 minutes to go through security.

Meeting agendas are not typically released until the day prior and speakers/topics will vary.Some notable speakers from
past events have been Vice President Pence, lvanka Trump,Sec. Ben Carson and/or Sec.Chao. If there are any changes
to the time/schedule,the administration will send out another email with the update.

If you have time to grab lunch in between the tour and the conference, below is a list of nearby casual dining
restaurants. Please note that there is a cafeteria (with limited food offerings) in the basement of the Eisenhower
Executive Office Building.

The White House does not provide any financial assistance for event attendees due to heavy government regulations.
Below is a list of hotels near NACo and the White House. However, any hotels located in Metro Center,Capitol Hill,or
Dupont Circle are great options. Please note that the closer you are to the White House,the more expensive the hotel
will be. Some hotels within walking distance to the White House are the JW Marriott Washington D.C. and the Willard.
Please ask for the Government rate when you reach out to the reservations team.
