HomeMy WebLinkAboutEmail received from Francine Richardosn regarding the marijuana ordinance 1-20-14 Sweeney, Kathleen From: Zhenechka Konstantinov [zhenechka.konstantinov@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, January 20, 2014 7:56 AM To: Sweeney, Kathleen; District Attorney Subject: Please don't pass the proposed medical marijuana restrictions! I know I wrote concerning this yesterday, but if you lived where we do, and have witnessed, first hand, the reality of the situation, you'd be just as horrified as I am at the prospect of what we are going to have to live with if these restrictions are passed! Crime will surely increase. Some people will probably try to grow in their homes, and then we will,by extension, have an enormous escalation in home invasions. There is safety in numbers, and if these restrictions are passed, we who live in the more rural areas of Butte county are going to be at risk. I have been here 13+ years and know how this goes, the marijuana goes right back into the control of the gangster/cartel element, their profits increase, and so it continues..I don't smoke it, but I don't want to be victimized peripherally by these new proposed "regulations" and they will affect many people who will end up being collateral damage--the folks who want these restrictions should have to live in areas that will be impacted, clearly they are isolated from the impending fallout and have no frame of reference to the big picture here. Keep it the way it is, it was very quiet last year, and we'd like to maintain that peace. I DO believe, however, that prohibiting growing inside the city limits is a prudent decision, individuals cultivating and grow cooperatives should be on land with existing permitted dwellings, as the real criminals will circumvent these laws, and be easier to target. growing cooperatives, by my experience, are harmless groups of people just needing to grow the plants for whatever ailment it relieves for them. There is a lot at risk here, please take all that I have put forth here into consideration. Thank you again for your time, Francine Richardson 6999 Citrus Ave Oroville, CA 95966 530-533-3818 "All that is best in me I have given to animals, and I mean to stand by them to the last and share their fate whatever it may be. If it is true that there is to be no haven of rest for them when their sufferings here are at an end, I, for one, am not going to bargain for any heaven for myself. I shall go without fear where they go, and by the side of my brothers and sisters from forests and fields, from skies and seas, lie down in merciful extinction in their mysterious underworld, safe from further torments." -- Dr. Axel Munthe 1 ( C-
