RE:Support for the State of Jefferson
Dear Honorable Supervisors,
I am proud to call Butte County home, yet dissatisfied at the direction the California
State Government has led us on. Northern California has been under constant attack from
lawmakers in Sacramento, our way of life has been threatened and our children's future
endangered. As early as 1941 there have been movements for us to withdraw from the State
of California and to form a new state (State of Jefferson). A state that represents our values
and recognizes the needs of Northern California without the overregulation and taxation.
At our recent meeting of the Butte County Republican Party, a unanimous vote was
cast in support of the State of Jefferson movement. Furthermore, it was also voted upon that
we formally support our supervisors in endorsing the State of Jefferson movement. In the
coming weeks,an agenda item will be put forward requesting the Butte County Board of
Supervisors support a declaration in favor of the new state. While this idea may seem bold and
extreme to a few, it represents the disgust that the majority your constituents have for the
direction our state is going. These were probably the same sentiments that were ushered in
when Maine separated from Massachusetts, or Vermont from New York. However the grass
roots movement and the desire of the people ultimately won out. Our way of life in Butte
County is being threatened daily, whether it's the assault on our precious resources,
restrictions on our 2nd amendment gun rights,or over reaching environmental law. Enough is
enough! On behalf of the Butte County Republican Party, and constituents throughout this
great county, please support this declaration and help move our values forward.
Regards,
Michael Zuccolillo
Chairman, Butte County Republican Party
