WATER COMMISSION
Recently Commission staff completed a quality assurance review of the'Water Storage Investment Program (WSIP)
Climate Change and Sea Level Rise Statewide datasets and the CalSim-ll and DSM2 model products. During the quality
assurance review, staff discovered that one of the data processing steps resulted in an erroneous shift of some
streamflows from February into March of each year.
As a result, staff recommended some corrections and revisions to the products published on September 9, 2016 (model
runs dated 9-3-16).These corrections and revisions are limited to the climate change modifications to the hydrologic
inputs to CalSim-II. Streamflows for the following, rivers were affected: Sacramento, Feather, American, Mokelumne,
Calaveras, Stanislaus,Tuolumne, Merced, Chowchilla, Fresno, and San Joaquin.
if the regulations governing WSIP are adopted by the California Water Commission, and an applicant uses the model
products, these versions of the models will be requiired. Staff intends to include these neve model products in the
upcoming formal comment period required pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Act. The Commission is
releasing these neva versions in advance of the formal comment period to assist and encourage potential applicants to
begin running the models as early as possible.
Updated CalSim-ll and DSM2 model products and further information can be found at this link:
