Govemor DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE CHARLTON H.BONHAM, Director •' Wildlife Branch 1812 Ninth Street Sacramento, CA 9581.1 (916)445-3406 December 2, 2015 NUITE COUNTY Butte County Board of Supervisors NOV 3 0 2015 25 Country Center Drive COrovillle, CA 95955 Dear Supervisors: This is to inform you of the Department of Fish and Wildlife's intent to recommend to the Fish and Came Commission the following 2016-17" deer hunt(s): -112 Cray Lodge Shotgun Either-Sex Deer Hunt J-9 Little Dry Creek Apprentice Shotgun Either-Sex Deer Hunt The 2015 tag quota for the subject hunt(s)were as follows: G-12 = 30, J-9 = 5. The recommendation for the attached proposal(s)will be formally received by the Commission at its December 10 2915 meeting. Please note that the recommendation(s) do not identify a specific tag quota but rather a range of tags at this time. A final recommendation (within this range of tags) based on herd performance and harvest results will be provided to the Fish and Game Commission for adoption at Its April, 20116 meeting. Pursuant to sections 458 and 459 of the Fish and Game Code, you are hereby notified of the Department's recommendation affecting your county. In order to object or modify the proposal, the Board of Supervisors must accept public testimony or other information at a public hearing prior to February 1 to assist in the decision making process. Any objections or recommendations for change must be by resolution and received in writing by the Department no later than January 31. Any objections or recommendations for change received after this date will not be considered. If the Board does not wish to exercise this veto authority, it is not necessary to hold a public hearing in consideration of this matter. If no response is received by this date, the Department will consider the proposal) approved and proceed with the regulatory process to implement the hunt. Attached is the proposed regulatory language for the above described hunt(s). Deer. Except as otherwise provided in this Title 14, deer may be taken only as follows: (c) Additional Hunts (9) G-12 (Gray Lodge Shotgun Either-Sex Deer Hunt). (A) Area: Those portions of Butte and Sutter counties within the exterior boundaries of the Gray Lodge State Wildlife Area. (B) Season: The season for additional hunt G-12 (Gray Lodge Shotgun Either-Sex Deer Hunt) shall open on the third Saturday in September and extend for nine consecutive days. (C) Bag and Possession Limit: One either-sex deer (see subsection 351(c)) per tag. (D) Number of Tags: 10-50. (E) Special Conditions: Only shotguns and ammunition as specified in Section 353 may be used. §360. Deer. Except as otherwise provided in this Title 14, deer may be taken only as follows: (c) Additional Hunts (31) J-9 (Little Dry Creek Apprentice Shotgun Either-Sex Deer Hunt). (A) Area: That portion of Butte County within the exterior boundaries of the Little Dry Creek Unit Upper Butte Basin Wildlife Area (as defined in Section 551, Title 14, CCR). (B) Season: The season for additional hunt J-9 (Little Dry Creek Apprentice Shotgun Either-Sex Deer Hunt) shall open on the third Saturday in September and extend for 9 consecutive days. (C) Bag and Possession Limit: One either-sex deer (see subsection 351(c)), per tag. (D) Number of Tags: 5-10. (E) Special Conditions: 1. Only junior license holders shall apply (see subsection 708.2). 2. Tagholders shall be accompanied by an adult chaperon 18 years of age or older while hunting. 3. Tagholders shall attend an orientation meeting the day before the opening day of the season. 4. Only shotguns and ammunition as specified in Section 353 may be used.
