NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF PETITION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to the provisions of Section 2073.3 of the
Fish and Game Code, the California Fish and Game Commission (Commission), on
June 8, 2015, received a petition from the Environmental Protection Information Center
and the Center for Biological Diversity to list Humboldt marten (Martes caurina
humboldtensis) as endangered under the California Endangered Species Act.
Humboldt martens are generally found in closed-canopy, old growth forests with
complex structure on or near the ground.
Pursuant to Section 2073 of the Fish and Game Code, on June 18, 2015, the
Commission transmitted the petition to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife
(Department) for review pursuant to Section 2073.5 of said code. It is anticipated that
the Department's evaluation and recommendation relating to the petition will be
received by the Commission at its October 8, 2015 meeting in Los Angeles.

information on the petition or to submit information to the Department relating to the
petitioned species.
