Pursuant to Government Code §1780, Pm writing to notify the Butte County Elections
Department that Robert Sharkey has resigned from his position on the Board of Directors for
the Feather River Recreation and Park District. Mr. Sharkey submitted an unsigned letter of
resignatian to the Board on Tuesday, January 24, 207.2. However, the Board was unable to
accept the resignation at that time. Subsequently, The Board received an executed letter, also
dated January 24, 2012 on February 1, 2012 (see attached}.
In accordance with Government Code §1780(a), the remaining members of the FRRPD Board of
Directors- have opted to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Sharkey's resignation by appointrnent.
This decision was made during the February 13, 2012 special Board meeting at which time the
Board formally accepted Mr. Sharkey's resignation. A Notice of Vacancy will be publicly posted
on February 15, 2012 for 15 days, and applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on March 2,
2012. The Board will interview applicants and select a candidate to fill the vacancy at the
regular Board meeting tentatively scheduled fox Tuesday, March 13, 2012. The Disixict will
notify the Butte County Elections Department of the Board's appointment within 15 days of the
appointment date.

Dear Directors:
It is with deep sadness that 1 tender my resignation from the FRRPD Board.
It was my intention to be a part of helping to ensure the District's future and to provide continued
recreational programs and parks for the benefit of our community. Unfortunately, that is not to
be.
Y and my family have suffered greatly at the hands of a few. My beloved wife has cancer,/
simply cannot withstand the storm any longer.
Y have done everything aver the past 20 years to help the District to the best of my ability, in
spite of what others may say. It is with a heavy heart that I step down.
