Subject: fees—insurance requirements
Dear Mr. Watson:
Thank you for replying to my concerns about the above requirements. I mentioned to you that I was the
Chairman of the NAACP committee that proposed the Oroville Center and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
The Coalition has received numerous complaints about the fees and insurance requirements.
African Americans feel they are denied the use of the Center because of their race. They and I agree that
they cannot afford the requirements for a family gathering, graduation party, African American History
celebration of Black History month, Dr. King remembrances, Juneteen (end of slavery), etc. etc. to name a
few.
Residents should receive the same consideration (requirements) given to government and non-profit
agencies. I hope the change will be made NOW!
