Trivla i • Friday October 28, Bee2016 Sierra Nevada Brewery, Big Room Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Grab some friends and compete against other local know-it-alls at this evening of fun! The Trivia Bee is a fun -filled event designed to promote awareness and to raise funds for Butte County Library, Literacy Services. Teams of three members compete by answering questions contributed by some of our community's finest experts—Butte County Librarians and Library Staff. Funds raised will be used to provide learning materials, resources, and support for adults and children in our community working to improve their basic reading and writing skills. Teams are given 20 seconds after each question to confer and write down their final answer. One point is given for each correct answer; there are no penalties for wrong answers. There are three rounds, and each new round starts at zero. The Qualifying Round consists of 30 questions. The ten teams with the highest score will compete in the Semi-final Round of 15 questions. The Final Round for the top five teams will have a total of 7 questions. In the event of a tie, a "Sudden Death" tie-breaker will take place. it's as simple and fun as that? 2015 Winning Team... We are Butte County Library Literacy Services Itis never The heart of Butte County Library too late Literacy Services is the Adult to learn! Reading Program. Adults interested in improving their basic reading and writing skills are matched with trained volunteers from the community. Pairs work towards the goals of the adult learner which may range from getting a better job to being able to read a bedtime story to his or her child. The Literacy Coach is a 36' custom-built vehicle that travels throughout the county sharing thoughtful early literacy experiences with children under 5 and their families who may not otherwise have access to the library due to geographic, economic or language barriers. Visitors to the Literacy Coach enjoy a new book that lends to building a print rich home environment and the message that your library can help adults who may struggle with their reading and writing skills.
