To the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Butte County:
I write this letter on behalf of the Llano Seco Ranch,to respectfully request and support your
prompt appointment of one individual to one of two seats available on the Groundwater Pumpers
Advisory Committee.
The Llano Seco Ranch makes up a large portion of the West Butte sub,basin, is 19,000 acres and
relies on the use of ground water. As the majority landowner in the Butte County portion of the
district, Llano Seco Ranch requests and supports the appointment of Mr. Charles Edgar to one of
the available seats in the Groundwater Pumpers Advisory Committee.
Mr. Edgar is qualified and ready to serve as a member of the Groundwater Pumpers Advisory
Committee. Mr. Edgar has for many years been the Ranch Manager for Llano Seco Ranch and.
therefore he is active in water and resource management issues on the Ranch, which has prepared
him well to take a leadership role for Groundwater Pumpers Advisory Committee.
In sum, it is vitally important to the Ranch that we have a seat on this very important board. That
this individual has the knowledge and is capable of governing and leading the board in these
challenging times of drought and other water and resource related issues. The Ranch believes
that Nh-. Edgar is eminently qualified to act as such and to ably represent the Butte County
interests within the sub basin's boundaries.Accordingly,please take appropriate action to
appoint him to the Groundwater Pumpers Advisory Committee. I trust that you have or will
appoint similarly qualified and able individuals to the available seat on the advisory board.

I am interested in serving,on the Groundwater Pumpers Advisory Committee. I manage the M&T Ranch
in the West Butte sub basin. We irrigate using groundwater as well as surface water on the ranch. Our
surface water is provided by an irrigation system,jointly owned by the M&T Ranch and the Llano Seco
Rancho. We farm a variety of crops on the ranch including walnuts, almonds, prunes, rice and beans, I
have been farming here since 1986.We irrigate using a variety of methods including, drip, micro, impact
sprinklers and flood irrigation.
