RE: Funding IHSS Anti-Fraud Efforts

On behalf of the Butte County Board of Supervisors, I respectfully request that the State budget
package include funding for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS} fraud investigation and
prosecution. IHSS anti-fraud effort has been a successful partnership between the federal
government, the state and counties. The $10 million investment by the State has leveraged $6 to $8
million annually of federal and local dollars, which allows local governments to investigate and
bring to justice those who illegally take scarce public resources from those who need it most. These
efforts help preserve program integrity, as well as provide overall savings to the State.
We respectfully request the legislature include $10 million funding in the FY 11-12 budget for IHSS
anti-fraud efforts.
