YAMAGUCHI PAUL HAHN Chief Administrative pfficer Butte County Appoints Interim Library Director News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 2, 2011 -11:00 a.m. Contact: Sang Kim (530) 538-3875 Orovilie, CA -Butte County officials announced the appointment of Jan Christofferson as Interim Library Director effective November S, 2011. She replaces Linda Mielke, who resigned to accept an appointment as the director of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System and the James Prendergast Library Association in Jamestown, New Yark. Ms. Christofferson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University- Chico and a Masters degree in Public Adminisixation from the University of Southern California. Ms. Christofferson worked for Yuba County for 21 years in various executive positions including the last six years as the County Administrator. She left Yuba County to serve as the Chief Executive Off cer for Placer County, where she later retired. Since retirement, Ms. Christofferson has served in a number of interim positions in Nevada County, including Director of Child Support Services, Director of Sanitation, Director of Planning, and Director of Transportation and Planning. Ms. Christofferson also served as the Interim Human Resources Director here in Butte County. Ms. Christofferson will begin her temporary assignment in Butte County providing leadership to the Library system, while evaluating the options for maintaining a thriving library system in the long- term. She will work with community stakeholders and staff to dune what is needed to lead the Library into the future. "Ms. Christofferson brings extensive leadership and county experience to our Library system," said Paul Hahn, Butte County Chief Administrative Officer. "Though she does not hold a Masters in Library Science, she will be supported by dedicated and capable library staff as well as County leadership while she leads the Library system during this transition period." It is anticipated that Ms. Christofferson will serve as Interim Library Director for five to six months. ###
