We have two programs we offer through our grant from the Veterans Administration—Rapid Re-housing program and homeless prevention program. Aside from the two programs through our grant we offer a food pantry,assist with utility assistance, holiday assistance and household items a Veteran family may need once they find a home. We now share our office with an Employment Development Department Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative who assists Veterans in searching, applying for and obtaining employment. We also share office space with an AMVets Veterans Service Officer who assists us in expediting the processes in assisting Veterans should the county VSO be unavailable or not have an appointment available for several weeks.The AmVets VSO assists Veterans in applying for benefits, issues with the paperwork process, applying or education opportunities or burial arrangements. I as the Outreach Specialist am putting for some diligent efforts to connect with community entities that may come across the population we serve to collaborate on improving the overall health of our local Veterans and the communities we serve. Our employees are dedicated to serving Veterans in seven surrounding counties that include: Butte,Glenn, Colusa,Yuba, Sutter, Sierra and Nevada. f As of December 2017, we have expanded from our original one suite office to three suites. With our appearance on the Veterans Talk Radio Show we have been offered our own show the 2nd Tuesday of every month, 5 starting February 13th.Mark your calendars and be sure to tune for current events and more information about CVRC! Services available in all counties: • SSVF case management, is still going strong and we have successfully housed 35 veterans and their families since Oct. 1 st 2017. We are on PAR to house 120 veterans and their families by Sept. 2018. • Team AmVets (VSO)Veterans Service Officer, • EDD(DVOP)Disabled Veterans Outreach Program, • HUD—VASH Butte County: Upcoming news! Chico Veterans Village, the Chico office is moving forward on a 52 unit housing project. This facility will be for low income veterans families.This facility will be open spring/summer 2020. Our Case Manager, Heather Dennison, is available every Tuesday at the Hope Center (10am to noon) on 1950 Kitrick Ave Oroville, CA. CVRC works with local law enforcement and the Behavioral Health's Outreach team to help identify homeless veterans in our community. We have also reached out to numerous hospital's and clinics in the Butte County area to inform client representatives and social workers of our services in hopes of identifying veterans at rick. Our agency also attends Butte County Continuum of Care, Coordinated Entry meetings, the Greater Chico Homeless Task Force and the TBRA meetings. We have reestablished working with the VSO office. Glenn/Colusa Counties: Our Case Manager Jennifer Zellers will be available in Glenn County on Tuesday 10:00am to 3:00pm at 640 E Walker Street, Orland and Thursdays at 240 N. Villa Street, Willows by appointment only. We work with Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Public Health, Eligibility, Adult Services, VSO office and Employment and Development through the Glenn County. Our case manager attends the CoC meetings. Jennifer will be making the rounds to the various departments to visit and exchange information with Ms. Grinnell, Deputy Director of Public Health. We will also be working with the Employment Training Development lead Linda Johnson to identify veterans that can utilize their services. Glenn county has funds available for training in the Health care, Protective services, Installation and maintains, and Production,Transpiration departments,for eligible veterans. Yuba/Sutter Counties: Craig May is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 3:00 pm at the Marysville Stand Down Store at 604 D Street,Maryville. We work with the VSO Marvin King, and Mark Schultsmeyer,Program Manager of Adult Services with Sutter-Yuba Mental Health Services, Sutter County Probation, CDCR, Harmony Health, John Floe, the Program Manager of Community Services, Yuba City Chief of Police Robert D. Landon,and Yuba City Mayor Preet Didbal. Sierra/Nevada Counties: Our agency can be contacted through the Nevada County Veterans Services Office at 988 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley (530)273-3396. We work with the VSO, Kevin Edwards, as well as Bob Brown and Sean Metroka. We have also made connections with the Salvation Army, Tom Kellar, whose organization has their own low income housing, which is open to local Veterans. From 11 :00am to 7:00pm the RedRoom did a tattoo flash event on our behalf with amazing American traditional flash designs. The owners, Dillon and Krista could not have been better hosts as well as the shop manager, Chelsea. A huge thank you to all of the on site artists who I were professional, meticulous and did an outstanding job resulting in a huge success! Food was provided by Tacos Borregos.
