Subject: Goddess Temple - in support of Public Use Permit
Dear Supervisor Bill Connelly, Supervisor Larry Wahl, Supervisor Maureen Kirk, Supervisor Steve Lambert
and Supervisor Kim Yamaguchi,
This email is written on behalf of the Goddess Temple and Reverend Robert Seals in support of the
granting of a Public Use permit needed to allow people to come together on this amazingly beautiful and
sacred land.
I, and so many others, consider the Goddess Temple to be a sacred space; a spiritual sanctuary that
heals, connects, and brings deeper awareness to all who visit. It is a unique and magical part of our
culture and we are fortunate to have such a have such a treasure here in Chico. I have enjoyed many
wonderful events hosted at the Goddess Temple--yoga classes, guided hikes down into the canyon, small
concerts, provocative and mind-expanding films, art classes, weddings, memorial services, skits put on by
kids, and many intriguing and inspiring workshops. I want to see us all to be able to continue to live,
grow, and celebrate life in this beautiful location.
Aware that neighbors have complained about noise and dust, I feel confident that Robert Seals and the
Goddess Temple are willing to take steps to remedy the situation, ensuring that neighbors' rights and
needs are honored. Reasonable accommodations such as a 10 PM night time curfew on amplified music
will eliminate excessive noise during the late night hours. And implementing a simple watering program,
where dirt roads are hosed down during summertime events, should work well to reduce dust in the air.
Other accommodations deemed necessary and reasonable can certainly be negotiated to create awin-win
situation far everyone involved.
Please grant a Public Use Permit to the Goddess Temple so that the people of our community can continue
to utilize this beautiful and sacred space for public gatherings and events.
Thank you,
Jenni Julien
