Subject: Honey Fire 10-2-17
Dear Chief Read:
Thank you very much to the Butte County Fire Department for your heroic efforts on the Honey Fire on 10/2/17. 1
wonder if you could relay this message to the air and hand crews that worked on the Honey Fire in Paradise? I believe
the fire trucks I saw were from Cottonwood and Redding.
I just can't believe that our entire block was saved on Russell Dr. Honestly, I am still in shock and that's why it's taken so
long to send this letter. My apologies for the late thank you.
As I was packing, I saw the most amazing air crews dropping retardant and saving our neighborhood.Their parallel
flights against the canyon were awe inspiring and I wish I had it on video! Thank you so much to those pilots. You saved
our house and I am just so grateful.Thank you to the fire crews for your kindness. You all looked exhausted after back to
back emergency responses the day before in the wind storms! We saw rnany crews responding to many diverse types of
calamities on Sunday.Thank you for coming all the way to Paradise to help us!
This is the second time you have saved us. Last year our property on Lime Saddle Rd.was in the Saddle Fire.Afterwards,
Chuck Marshall of Butte County Fire Safe Council, worked with us to learn how to improve the fire breaks on the
property. What a wonderful service the county offers and he is so professional and:very much appreciated for all the
work that has been done on Pentz Rd this past summer.
If you ever need an advocate, I will always be here to say a kind word about how your team deserves all that you need
and the resources to get the job done. With all the fires on Pentz Rd this summer, the Cherokee Fire and all the horrific
fires in Oroville this, summer, I just wanted you to know how much you are all appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jim and Angela Caster
