Since each of you sit on the Air Quality Management District Board, I know that you are already familiar with what I have been able to accomplish to this point. Never the less, a brief history is as follows. As a concerned resident of Butte County I helped start a program that farmers can use to recycle plastic containers of 55 gallon size and less. Farmers are instructed on the proper methods of rinsing, cap removal, and lawful transport of the empty containers. Containers are then ground to a very compact size and removed from the area for use in other types of plastic products that are not related to the human food chain. Thus far the benefits have been fairly substantial. Namely over five tons of plastics eliminated from the Neal Road Recycling and Waste facility and we will be gathering up more on February 9a' of 2010. The cities of Biggs, Gridley, Paradise and Chico become beneficiaries by the reduction of solid waste. The Citizens of Butte County benefit through cleaner air and water. Specifically cleaner air results from the reduction of burned materials and fuel savings by fewer repetitive trips to the waste facility. The cleaner water is because the plastics are recycled as opposed to the potential problem of being underground for generations. Obviously, I have countless hours and a fair amount of money invested in making this project work. While everyone seems supportive of my efforts, that's where it ends. This program helps everyone involved right down to the growers and all citizens of Butte County. I could use your help. I am doing a lot of work that is saving others quite a bit of time and money, so would it be possible for the Board to assist me in finding funds to keep this project active? Please remember, I'm not looking for money directly from the county just help with finding sources of revenue and in fact, together we may just be able to bring some money in to the county! Thanks for your consideration... Sincerely, Bill Graves, G and G California Helping California Agriculture Grow Green
