Dear Supervisor Lambert,
Butte County employees are trying very hard to let you know just how much our lives have been
impacted by the ever increasing health care cost and lack of pay increases/raises.
I have been employed with Butte County since 1996. I am a single mother and this is my only income. I
currently live in a very modest 2 bedroom home with a whopping 650 sq.feet. I do not have a car
payment, I do not have internet access and I do not have a home phone. I often ride my bike to work to
save money.
4 years ago due to increases in health care coverage, I had to remove my children from my health
insurance. In 2012,for the same reason, I changed my insurance to lesser quality insurance. Due to that
change, I now have in excess of$2300.00 in medical bills. Now this lesser insurance is increasing in 2014
by29%!
The cost of living continues to rise. I have cut back on my expenses everywhere possible. I fear my
financial situation may already be damaged to point of no return. I worry each month I may not be able
to meet my financial obligations. I truly do not feel respected or valued by my employer.
