Dear Chair Josiassen:
Thank you for acknowledging the valiant efforts of Los Angeles County firefighters during the
2008 Butte County firestorm, and for sending a certificate of appreciation to formally
recognize their service.
The 2008 California Firestorms were the most challenging in California's history. Our State's
Master Mutual Aid System continues to serve as the backbone of the fire service, and I am
pleased that we were able to offer you help in your time of need.
I am also glad to learn that the efforts of our firefighters were invaluable in protecting many
lives and homes for the residents of your County. This is our enduring mission.
1 will be happy to share the certificate and your comments with members of our Department.
