Dear Supervisor Josiassen:
State Parks is developing plans for the habitat restoration and facilities
development of its "Sacramento River Access at Pine Creek" subunit within Bidwell-
Sacramento River State Park. An existing walnut orchard is proposed to be restored to
native Valley oak woodland and riparian forest. This native habitat will surround an
approximate 50 vehicle parking lot, restroom, open turf area, and picnic tables accessed
from River Road (see attached preliminary plan). The Sacramento River will be
accessible from the day use area via a short trail for fishing and boaters using canoes,
kayaks or other floating devices, i.e. inner tubes and plastic rafts. A trail loop will course
through the project area. These plans conform to the concepts expressed in the Park's
General Plan adopted January, 2006.
The State Parks' Valley Sector has scheduled a public meeting to explain these
plans and get feedback from interested parties. This meeting will occur at the Bidwell
Mansion Visitor Center in Chico at the address above on Wednesday, November 19,
2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Sincerely,
Denise Reichenberg
Valley Sector Superintendent
