Dear Supervisor Connelly,
Thank you for writing to share your concerns about holding a statewide special election this year.
These are difficult economic times, and it's incredibly important that we work together to keep
California moving forward. Your input plays an important role in that effort, and I was glad to
hear from you.
I'm proud of my administration's consistent record of fully reimbursing counties for the cost of
holding statewide special elections, and I remain committed to working with you to ensure that
we continue doing so. People across the state are struggling right now, so it's all the more
critical that we join forces to maintain the very highest standards of transparency and
accountability. I very much recognize the important role county election officials play in
ensuring that Californians can voice their opinions at the ballot box, and you can be sure I'll keep
your thoughts in mind.
You and your fellow local leaders do some remarkable work every day, and your in-the-trenches
perspective is an important one for us to have here in Sacramento. Thanks again for writing and
for your service and commitment to our golden state.
Sincerely,
Arnold Schwaizenegger
