Regarding: Adoption of Butte County General Plan 2030
The process of developing of General Plan 2030 has been very open, inclusive, and extensive...the
best we have seen. There is no perfect plan, nor will it suit everyone in every detail. But it is a very
well-founded, representative, and forward-looking plan.
The areas that plan well for growth, and place a priority on agriculture, open space, and sensible
development, while providing for economic opportunity, end up being the places that are desired and
valued by people in the long run. We'll be proud of the way in which Butte County is guided by the new
plan, and as we grow into a balanced and vibrant area as time goes on.
Our foothill farmlands community (Area 23) is handled well in the proposed Plan, as Rural Residential
lands with a Unique Agriculture Overlay. It preserves the essential rural character and enhances the
potential for small-scale farming and the associated visitation and education.
We respectfully request that you adopt the final Butte County General Plan 2030 at your meeting on
September 29 , 2010.
