RE: Appointment of Peggy Moak as Butte County Treasurer-Tax Collector
Dear Board Members:
With the retirement of Butte County Treasurer-Tax Collector Linda Barnes, the County of Butte
and the Board faces the important task of appointing a replacement to fill an extremely important
position in the county fiscal structure. I wholehearted support Ms. Barnes' suggestion of
appointing her assistant Peggy Moak to that position.
I have known Ms. Moak for nearly two decades and have had the pleasure of working with her
for the past decade in her positions with the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office. I have been
impressed not only with the quality of her work with that Office, but her responsiveness to any
inquiry that the public may have for her or the Office. The depth of her financial acumen and
experience is phenomenal. I cannot think of a better candidate for such an important position.
As the constitutional officer who has some oversight of her work and that of her Office, I can say
without reservation Ms. Moak's integrity is unimpeachable and of the highest order.
To continue the extraordinary work that Ms. Barnes has set in place within her office, helped in
no small part by Ms. Moak, I sincerely hope you allow Ms. Moak take over the helm to keep our
fiscal ship on the straight and narrow and away from dangerous shoals.
