HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter from Sequoyah Ave. residents regarding upcoming court hearing of Scott Alan Nelson BUTT E COUNTY ADMINISTRATION SEP 1 6 2013 Board of Supervisors OROVILLE,CALIFORNIA September 13, 2013 RE: Scott Alan Nelson To Whom It May Concern, We are writing in regard to the upcoming court hearing for Scott Alan Nelson previously residing at the home of his parents Paul and Patty Nelson of 511 Sequoyah Avenue, Chico, CA. Although no longer residing with his parents, he frequents the neighborhood in violation of a restraining order. As cul-de-sac neighbors, we wish to express our deep concern. For the past 9 years, Scott has had a history of disturbing and, most recently, escalating violent behavior. The most recent episode was of Scott wielding a knife in the cul-de-sac, breaking a neighbor's garage window, and threatening the arresting officers. The neighborhood is very fearful. Our youngest family has 2 young girls and lives next door to the Nelsons. At 6 years old, a girl should be able to ride her bike in the cul-de-sac, but she can't. She should be able to run through the sprinkler in their front yard with her 2 year old sister, but she can't. We feel the safety of the children is in imminent peril as well as our safety, our property, and our families. This is a very close, caring group of neighbors who have been, and will continue to be, totally supportive of the Nelsons ever since this began 9 years ago when Scott was a sophomore in High School. It's heartbreaking to see how their family has been torn apart by Scott. The Nelsons have provided their son with many self-help and voluntary substance abuse programs and Scott has walked away after a few days. Scott needs to be required to stay in a program. Hopefully this conveys our concerns and will help you with this court's decision. Ultimately we want only that Scott and his family heals from this ongoing problem. If there is some way that the court can help Scott and his family and address our neighborhood concerns, we encourage this to happen. 177:R )-11 r g (' r"rry i, Thank you for your help in this matter, kHejr crai t,t; Marge & Bob Crawford &/ 510 Sequoyah Ave. 530-342-3810 Amy & Paul Mess 501 Sequoyah Ave. - asI , ' - . 530-893-3652 Lois & Tom Valiance 500 Sequoyah Ave. 530-893-1839 det-r)j.
