Subject: Assembly Bill 1042 (Hall)—Request for Signature
Dear Governor Brown,
The Butte County Board of Supervisors respectfully requests your signature on Assembly Bill 1042 (Hall),
which would appropriate $13 million in FY 2013-14 from the Indian Gaming Special Distribution Fund
(SDF). Monies from the SDF program have been critical to Butte County in mitigating some of the
impacts of Indian gaming on our community.
Local government agencies throughout Butte County, primarily public safety agencies, have relied upon
the mitigation grants to offset what would otherwise be a 100%General Fund cost to provide services
related to tribal gaming. Since fiscal year 2003-04, local agencies in Butte County have received over$7
million in mitigation payments. Costs far exceed the grant amounts, but every little bit helps.
