Dear Supervisor Teeter,
I'm writing to let you know that I'm interested in the vacant seat for the 5"' District
Representative on the Butte County Fait, Board. I've been a lifelong supporter of the Butte
County Fair and would be honored to serve as your 5"' District Representative if selected. The
Fair has potential and needs a connected, positive millennial to round out the distinguished
current representatives. My deep roots in agriculture, understanding of business and destruction
derby driving skills would also help serve me on the Butte County Pair Board of Directors.
Thanks,

Supervisor Doug Teeter,
I am interested in the vacancy on the Butte County Fair Board for district 5. 1 know I can be an asset to the board.
1
Here are just a few examples why I feel I am qualified to serve on the Butte County Fair Board. I am currently the
standing Vice President of the Butte 4H Couinty Council. I have been given the privilege to continue for a second term.
The 4H council has the pleasure of working for our 4H youth to providing support for the 4H program. This last past year
we prepared and proposed a balance budget, made some, corrections to documents and had some policy changes that
were accepted by the council, I like knowing my efforts are helping guide our energetic youth to the path of leadership
for future endeavors.
My boys, wife and | have enjoyed being a 4H family for the last 5 years. | have seem significant growth and
maturity with how they interact and communicate with adults and other 4h members. It is encouraging to watch my
son's teach a new or existing 4H member a new skill they learned from one of the many projects they are involved in.
They are currently raising a heifer, a steer (4H Beef group), 2 sows(pig, 4H Swine group),, 2 boar goats (4H goat group)
and meat chickens (4h Poultry group). The term parents living thru their kids comes to mind. When they first started my
wife and I told them they could earn stars for their hats for projects they completed, record books completed each year,
presentations given and community service hours they accumulated. On a normal path it could take a 4H member 2
years to earn one star. |'m proud tosay my boys have earned a star each year with the work they have completed as
described above. They have also applied and been: accepted as Butte County All Stars which is the highest level a 4H
member can achieve in their County. As you can tell I'm very proud of their accomplishments and where this will help
them imtheir future.
| have been a1mycurrent job for 18 years with ADT Security Services. |nthis time h have moved up the ladder so to

In a volunteer capacity, I had the lead role installing the panels in the beef barn, painting the
rabbit/poultry barn and building portable stands for the rabbit/poultry overflow pens. At the Butte
County Fairgrounds I have used my building experience at a professional level to repair the outside of
the livestock office, build an exit gate on the back side of the fairgrounds and repair many of the swamp
coolers throughout the fairgrounds as well as various other small projects. I have worked on the
irrigation system throughout the fairgrounds, repairing and setting up. I have been entrusted with a set
of keys and know most of the inner workings of the fair grounds.
I could bring a unique outlook as a board member, because I have started at the bottom. As a volunteer,
seasonal employee and JLA member over a seven year span I have covered many bases. And if I was
chosen I would like to continue to be hands on member of the fairgrounds. We are entering a new time
with the county its self being more involved and I would like to help guide the fairgrounds into the
future.

Subject:Appointment to the Butte County Fair Board
Dear Supervisor Teeter,
I am contacting you due to my interest in being appointed to the Butte County Fair Board. I am an active
leader in the Butte County 4-H program, involved in leading multiple club projects and I am the chairman of the
Butte Co. Small Animal Field Day. My son has been active in the Butte County Fair for four years as an
exhibitor. I have been deeply engaged in the Butte County Fair as an advisor to the Livestock Office. My work
with the fair office has allowed the fair to grow the poultry barn from approximately thirty entries to over one
hundred fifty in the course of three years. Each year I commit numerous hours prior to the start of fair working
directly with both the fair and livestock offices to organize and review the premium book for the poultry
department. During the week of fair I volunteer in the range of forty hours, working in the poultry barn, clerking
for judges, assisting in goat shows, auction setup, helping to coordinate the small animal master showmanship
competition and conducting a portion of the pee-wee livestock show. In addition to volunteering at the fair, my
son and I both commit to attending numerous Butte County Fair Livestock Committee meetings throughout the
year. I have a good working relationship with numerous individuals in the fair office, fair livestock
committee and members of the fair board do to my involvement and volunteer service.
My species knowledge covers both large and small animals. My family owns a cattle ranch in
Tehama County. We currently own and show dairy and meat goats, wool sheep, horses, poultry, cavies and
obedience trial dogs. This knowledge has allowed me to institute brand new programs in Butte County such as
the 4-H Dog Obedience project and the Small Animal Field Day. Both programs were non-existent prior to me
developing them and have since become great assets to our 4-H youth program. Our Small Animal Field Day
launched with so much success that our format is being followed by other counties and neighboring counties
are requesting to attend.
In addition to my involvement in the 4-H program, I have been involved in Boy Scouts on the ridge for seven
years. I was instrumental in bringing Cub Scout Pack 316 to the Elks Lodge. Having served as both a pack
and troop Committee Chairman in the past, I know just how important a strong leadership team is for any
organization. In turn a strong leadership team benefits our youth in countless ways and brings a sense of
community pride.
My other involvement in our community is the Elks Lodge. After fifteen years as the Chico Lodge scholarship
chairman and ten years as the North District chairman I have handed the reins over with mixed emotions. I
have genuinely loved what the Elks scholarship program has done for the students of our county and students
throughout the North State. This is another program I have worked tirelessly for as a volunteer. When I took
over the program the lodge budget would only cover three or four scholarships. With persistence, countless
trustee meetings and dogged determination my work has grown the program to support as many twenty
scholarships at the lodge level. I will miss my previous level of involvement in the program but excited to see
what new dynamic the next chairman will bring to program.
I hope you will see fit to consider me for appointment to the Butte County Fair Board. Knowing the makeup of
the current board I feel I would be an ideal fit, bringing community mindfulness, a working knowledge of the
livestock barns, still exhibits and leadership skills that will promote growth and development of our fair. Should
you have any questions about my request or if you would like to speak to me, please feel free to contact me.
Best Regards,
Erin Junge-Deweli
