Board members - Please see the email below from LAB member Carolyn Driscoll. I will post a vacancy notice for Ms. Driscoll's seat. She is serving as the designated Durham member of the LAB with a term ending December 31, 2014. Because of the state code requirement that an unscheduled vacancy be posted for 10 working days, Sept 9 is the first regular meeting at which a replacement could be appointed to serve the remainder of Ms. Driscoll's term. FYI - There has been an on-going vacant seat on the LAB for member from the Oroville area. I will forward any requests for appointment upon receipt. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Kathleen Sweeney Assistant Clerk of the Board Butte County Administration 25 County Center Drive, Suite 200 Oroville, CA 95965 530-538-7643 -----Original Message ----- From: Carolyn Driscoll [mailto:dncrdriscoll(@att.net] Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2014 3:12 AM To: Lightbody, Melanie Subject: LAB Mel, Effective immediately, I am resigning from the LAB Board. My term is up in January, but some family medical problems make it necessary for me to leave the board before that date. With the workshop coming up in October I was hoping that a replacement could be found, so Durham would be represented on the board. I have learned so much about the workings of the library system and have enjoyed my time on the board. I will continue to support Butte County Libraries, and will remain involved with the Durham Friends. Respectfully, Carolyn Driscoll Sent from my iPad z COMMITTEE VACANCY NOTICE BUTTE COUI IPERVISORS The Butte County Board of Supervisors is hereby giving notice of a vacancy on the Butte County Library Advisory Board due to a resignation of a member from the Durham area. The Durham area Board position has become open with Carolyn Driscoll's resignation. It would be a disservice to leave the position open for any length of time. I would like to offer my time and experience to serve on the Advisory Board. I have previously served on the Library Advisory Board, and believe it to serve a valuable function. I have served as President of a Friend of the Library group. I believe I would be able to work with the present Library Board members in giving advisory input to the Board of Supervisors. In the past, I have worked with Ms. Lightbody and members of the Board on other Library functions; such as the recent Centennial Celebration. The library to me is an extension of the education system; and I think we must keep them open as much as possible giving students access to the internet and library reference materials. I am a life long resident of Durham CA, except for 20 years in the US Air Force. Having retired from farming, I have time to devote to a community service committee of this type.
