This matter concerns an increase of $.k8/hour for aheetmetal
worker thak had not been anticipated and wss overlooked by.everSone~~~'
connected with the contract. The error was not discovered until an
audit by Mr. Hughes, State Industrial Relations Board, found it.
Penalties have been assessed since that time until the matter is cleared
up .
Mx. Dam Cook, Cook and Associates, set out whet had happened
at the different meetings held before the contract was signed.
_c~c _,~,Nlr,~Hughes, State Industrial Relations Department, stated that
as of January 1; the State Industrial Belations Board will be setting
the prevailing rates for the State of California. This should help to
alleviate some of the problems like this one.
On motion of Supervisor McKillap, seconded by Supervisor
Richter and unanimously carried, Change Order No. 6 in the amount of
$420.39 for the Faradiee Library was approved and the Chairman authorized
to sign.
Mr. Don Tiumgate. discussed the reasons for the $3900 is penalties
that have been assessed on the contractor. Mr.Tumgate asked that the
Board write a letter to the Stets Division of~Labor Standards Enforcement
and tell them of the change and that it was nat a deliberate attempt on
the part of the contractor to get out of paying the wages.
On motion of Supervisor Ladd, seconded by Supervisor Madigan
and unanimously carried, County Counsel is instructed to write a letter
to the State Division of Labor Standards Enforcement Board and explain
the situation to them and also relate the action the Board has taken
this date; "this is in`thh best intrest bf £he^peop~ of Butte County
end the Board hoe to do what is fair.
ADDITIONAL MATTER BY StJPERVI50R MADIGAN
Supervisor Madigan reported oa a meeting canceraing the
Central Valley Flood Control Program. Supervisor Madigan met Colonel
U'Shea 67td sew elides of the river.
ADJOiJRNMENT:
