Call to order at 4:00 p.m. - a special/joint meeting with the
Chico City Council (pursuant to Section 54956 of the California
Government Code), Chico Municipal Center, Council Chamber, 421
Main Street, Chico. Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Houx, Josiassen
and Chair Davis present. John S. Blacklock, Chief
Administrative Officer; Neil H. McCabe, Chief Deputy County
Counsel; and Carol Roach, Assistant Clerk of the Board.
Council members Steve Bertagna, Bill Johnston, Colleen Jarvis,
Kimberly King, Dave Guzzetti, and Rick Keene, Mayor present.
Not Present: Council member Andrews. Tom Lando, City Manager;
David Frank, City Counsel; and Barbara Evans, City Clerk.
The meeting was opened by Chair Davis/Mayor Keene presiding.
Pledge of allegiance to the Flag of the United States of
America.
Invocation: Youth With a Mission, Chico.

97-310 Solid waste collection in the Chico Urban Area - action
requested - CONSIDERATION OF A REQUEST TO AMEND THE CHICO
MUNICIPAL CODE TO ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL SOLID WASTE COLLECTOR
PERMITS FOR THE UNINCORPORATED PORTION OF THE CHICO URBAN AREA.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RECOMMENDATION: IN SUPPORT OF FREE
ENTERPRISE, TO ALLOW FOR ONE ADDITIONAL, LOCAL PERMIT.
MOTION OF CITY COUNCIL BY ANDREWS/SECOND BY JARVIS BY A
UNANIMOUS VOTE IN SUPPORT OF THE STATUS QUO.
