B cou .aDffic7o\ AUG 3 0 2010 ORO4ILr c, Ci1FORNTLk This position and one other employee make up the Technical Services for the Butte County Library. Technical Services is responsible for cataloging all the material that all of the libraries of Butte County have in their branches. They process approximately 35,000 to 45,000 items each year. The Library Director told the Supervisors that Technical Services would do the cataloging. My question is, how is one person going to catalog and process the number of items that two employees have been doing? I volunteered and was employed as Extra Help from 1995 until 2003 at the Oroville Branch of Butte County Library. I understand the importance of efficient, correct, and timely cataloging items into the Butte County Library computer system. A patron or an employee will be unable to locate the material they are searching for if the cataloging is not correctly inputted into the computer. I urge the Board of Supervisors to revisit their decision to eliminate the Supervisor of Technical Services and reinstate the position so that the branches of The Butte County Library can be efficiently served through the Technical Services Department.
