With your approval of immediate interim steps to re-establish the hazard abatement
program utilizing Butte County Code Section 38a, the following is the process for
forwarding complaints to the fire department:
Advise the complainant to contact the Butte County Fire Department Fire Prevention
Bureau at 538-78$8 or;
Accept the complaint and forward the information to the following email addresses:
matt.dainon cr)fire.ca. 7ov and ~eor >e.Fnorris cr)fre.ca. rov
Appropriate action will be taken after researching the nature of the complaint and
determining whether to abate or document the issue. At a minimum all complaints will
be recorded, researched for property owner and added to the database for action during
next year's cycle.
The minimum information we need to research a complaint is the street address or a good
description of the property in question. For example, "the lot on the NE corner of the
intersection of 1 S~ St and Oak Ave." Other information such as the complainant's phone
number maybe helpful as well.
As we get deeper into the summer abatement of a complaint may be more dangerous than
leaving it until next spring. That determination will be made on a case by case basis. At
a minimum, all caseslproperties meeting the descriptions within Chapter 38a will be
researched and recorded for inclusion and notification during the 2014 process.
As always, if you have any questions please let me know
