HomeMy WebLinkAboutMemo regarding the Hazard Abatement Complaint ProcessInteroffice- Memorandum TO: Butte County Board of Supervisors FROM: Greg McFadden, Interim Fire Chief SUBJECT.- Hazard Abatement Complaint Process Butte County Code Chapter 38a DATE: May 29, 2014 With the Hazard Abatement Officer Position funded and re-established the following is the process for forwarding complaints to the fire department: Advise the complainant to contact the Butte County Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau at 538-7888 or; Accept the complaint and forward the information to the following email addresses: Shannon. , arrett a),fire.ca.gov and ryan.finn@fire.ca.gov Appropriate action will be taken after researching the nature of the complaint, whether the location is within rural or urban jurisdiction and determining whether abatement or documentation action will be taken to address the issue. At a minimum all complaints will be recorded and researched for property owner information but some locations may not qualify for weed abatement action. The information we need to research a complaint is the street address or a good description of the property in question. For example, "the lot on the NE corner of the intersection of 1 st St and Oak Ave." Other information such as the complainant's phone number and the closest address to the hazard property is helpful as well. As we get further into the summer season abatement of a complaint, due to operating equipment in the wildland, may be more dangerous than not taking action. That determination will be made on a case by case basis. As always, if you have any questions please let me know. G Xe7addea Interim Fire Chief %j Vic: g,CA+
