Subject. Medicinal Marijuana Regulation
Members of the Board,
He11o, and good luck at this evening's meeting. I am a citizen of Butte
County and I will be in attendance. I don't know if I will have an
opportunity to speak so I wanted to briefly share my views.
I am not opposed to the legitimate use of medicinal marijuana, but I feel
that the current county and state regulations regarding medicinal
marijuana use and cultivation are flawed and much too lax. I would favor
county regulations similar to the city regulations in place in Biggs - or
even more restrictive.
If someone has a legitimate need and prescription for medicinal marijuana,
let them obtain it from a pharmacy like other medications. I see no need
for private grows, "group grows", or marijuana collectives. I see these as a
way to circumvent the law and grow/sell marijuana for a profit. The news
is full of stories outlining the abuse of existing county/state regulations.
I am urging you to stand firm on this issue. I feel that the vast majority of
citizens in Butte County are opposed to any weakening of the current
county/state regulations and would in fact prefer much more restrictive
regulations regarding the cultivation and sale of marijuana in our area.
Thank you for your consideration.
