I'm in the process of trying to purchase a piece of property, south of Oroville, which is
owned by the Marsh family, commonly known as The North State building. The Marsh
property is adjacent to a piece of property I already own. I hired an appraisal company
to appraise the Marsh property. The current zoning of the property is M2 and has a
16,000 square foot shop which is being used to manufacture tile murals. Part of the
shop is being rented out as a truck repair business. Both the shop property, which is
mostly graveled and my property to the south have been used historically for
equipment repair and equipment storage. When the appraisal came back, I found out
that the property with the shop and my 8 acres adjoining, the shop property, was being
rezoned to resource conservation.
I was very surprised by this news. The bank I was working with was reluctant to
proceed with the loan and felt the future value of the property would be diminished.
I attended the planning commission draft zoning meeting on October)4h, 2010 to voice
my concern along with others. The planning commission acknowledged that there are
areas on the draft zone map that may need corrections like these two properties.
It was stated that the draft zone map was before the supervisors and would be
approved later in the month of October. It was also stated that I should contact my
supervisor to voice my concerns.
Thankyou,
